Obituary

Jane Esther Frank of Burke, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 12:05 AM at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD, surrounded by her husband Larry, and her four children.

Jane was born on February 28, 1945, in Lynch, NE. The daughter of John and Anne (Bendig) Ludemann. "Janie" was the youngest of twelve children. Jane's children, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews all grew up with the love to play cards. She especially enjoyed taking her brothers' and sisters' money when she won. There wasn't a day that she hadn't at least played one hand of cards.

Jane spent her life working various jobs. Before she retired, she was a cook at Community Memorial Hospital. She loved to cook and visit with the people she worked with and cooked for. Besides all her jobs, she loved her family. One of everyone's favorite foods she cooked was her fried chicken and mashed potatoes. All her grandkids said, she made the best-mashed potatoes in the world. We are certain the Gregory County Locker crew and customers will miss her popcorn balls. Jane loved the outdoors. She loved to fish; catfishing was her favorite. She would cast her pole and say, here fishy, fishy, fishy ! Jane also spent countless hours with her many flowers and garden. She was well known for making the best dill pickles in the county. Jane loved the holidays. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, on the inside and outside of her home. She loved watching the kids' expressions when they would see all her hard work. Jane would spend as much time as she could with her grandchildren, whether it was with their pets or fishing and swimming in the river. She simply passed on her enthusiasm for the outdoors to them.

She met Larry Frank later in life. They married on January 11, 2008, and this year they celebrated 14 years of marriage. During this time, she gained his family as hers and Larry gained her family as his own. Everyone felt truly blessed to be a part of the Frank family. Jane and Larry were members of the Union Baptist Church.

Jane leaves behind her husband Larry; her four children Lisa (Pat) Fahey of Spearfish, SD, Donald (Hee Sook) Koenig of Sacramento CA, Laurie (Jeff) Pistulka of Fairfax, SD, Machelle (Bill) Hale of Camdenton, MO. She leaves behind ten grandchildren, Alisha and Rebecca Fahey, Richard and Kimberly Koenig, Samantha (Adam) Cerny, Ashley (Kevin) Pelc, Seth (Jhena) Pistulka, Lindsey (Thomas) Wyatt, Nicholas (April) Hale, and Cassandra (Casey) Fowler. She was also blessed with Great Grandchildren: Mason, Makenzie, and Morgan Pelc; Eloise, Eban, and Everly Wyatt; Liam, Keegan, and Jackson Hale; and Camden and unborn sibling Fowler. She was a Great Grandmother to many foster grandchildren that she loved as if they were her own. Brothers Darrell Ludemann of Lynch NE, Wayne (Lorraine) Ludemann of Fairfax SD, Sister Rosemary Hartshorn of Monroe, Oregon, and many nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her mom and dad; brothers Allen, Edward, Bob; sisters Doris, Norma, Laverne, Shirley, and infant sister Pearl; son-in-law Shane Crew.
