Iva Opal King was born October 20, 1916 in Hinton, Iowa to Elmer and Martha (Schuldt) Herman and she died July 6, 2005 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 16 days.
Iva attended school in Bonesteel until she was a sophomore. She was united in marriage to Dale W. King on June 1, 1937 and to this union three children were born. She was a homemaker all of her adult life. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing cards and dancing.
Iva lived in Parkview Manor in Burke for the last twenty-five years, and she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Burke.
Iva was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister and her loving husband of thirty-one years.
Iva leaves to mourn her three children: Mervin of Winner, South Dakota, Mavis and husband James Board of Woodinville, Washington; and Phyliss and husband Larry Bauske of Pierre, South Dakota; one sister, Eva Sagehorn of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one brother, Verdis Herman of Winner, South Dakota; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous friends and relatives.
