Ida Marie Maertins was born September 16, 1911 at Naper, Nebraska to Jacob and Katy (Risselman) Blum and she died December 27, 2008 at the Butte Healthcare Center in Butte, Nebraska at the age of 97 years.
Ida was united in marriage to William Maertins on August 27, 1933. She lived in Naper all of her life. Along with William, they owned and operated the grocery and dry goods store for over 45 years. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naper. She remained in her home for over 90 years before moving to the assisted living in Butte. She loved gardening, canning, sewing, quilting and rug making.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and three sisters.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Mardell and husband John Ludemann of St. Paul, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Susan and husband John Moore of Grand Island, Nebraska; Laurie and husband Wayne Gress of Grand Island, Nebraska; Cullen Ludemann of Oxford, Nebraska and Cory and wife Trisha Ludemann of Hastings, Nebraska as well as six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Butte, NE. Burial will at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Naper. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
