Obituary

Henry Charles Hotz was born July 1, 1930 at Chicago, Illinois to Henry Joseph and Anna (Feiertag) Hotz. He died April 22, 2008 at his home in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 77 years.

Henry attended Chicago Public Schools. He then attended school in Omaha, Nebraska for Auto Mechanics. He began his career in Burke at the West Side Service Station in 1948. He continued there until 1952. He was united in marriage to Iris M. Teel on June 6, 1949 and to this union four children were born: Sandra, Darrell, Charles and Roger.

In 1952, Henry was inducted into the Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1954, serving in Korea and Japan. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korea Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. After returning to Burke, Henry and Iris purchased the Dick Silers Garage in 1962. They operated a filling station and auto mechanic shop as Bobs Conoco and Hotz Service for 34 years, retiring in 1992.

Henry was a lifetime member of the VFW and 50 year member of the American Legion in Burke. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, but his passion was drinking coffee and conversation with all of his friends.

Henry is survived by his wife Iris of Burke, SD; one daughter, Sandra (Dale) Neumiller of ONeill, NE; three sons: Darrell (Lynn) of Freeman, SD; Charles of Burke, SD and Roger (Tami) of Burke, SD; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret Benge.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 PM, with a 7 PM prayer service, at the funeral home. Bob is survived by his wife Iris of Burke, SD; one daughter, Sandra (Dale) Neumiller of ONeill, NE; Darrell (Lynn) of Freeman, SD; Charles of Burke, SD and Roger (Tami) of Burke, SD.
