Helen Elizabeth Hoppe was born October 7, 1929 at Rosebud South Dakota to Jacob and Lena (Martin) Smith. She went to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 9, 2019. She died at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, South Dakota at the age of 89 years.

Helen was united in marriage to Melvin Hoppe on March 18, 1952. In her earlier years she enjoyed working in her vegitable and flower gardens. In her later years her interests turned to her many house plants.

Greatful for having shared her life are her five children: Jerry (Liz), Sharon (Rex), Marlene, Ron and Terry (Cindy); twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Frank.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her brothers: Richard, Clarence, Bill and Lee and her sisters: Lula, June and Mary Lou.
