Harold Howard Deering was born May 6, 1927 at Lucas, South Dakota to John and Theresa (Boes) Deering and he died December 14, 2006 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 8 days.
Harold was born the eighth of nine children. He graduated from Burke High School in 1944. On March 5, 1949 he was united in marriage to Margaret Dunn of Gregory, South Dakota. They ranched and farmed at Lucas, South Dakota for 52 years before moving into Burke in 2001.
Harold doted on his grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and took great pride in his cattle. He served as a 4-H leader for several years while his kids were growing up. He attended the Lucas Baptist Church.
Harold is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Burke, South Dakota; his son, Harold, Jr. and wife Darlene of Brandon, South Dakota; his daughter, Karen and husband Doug Brucklacher of Watertown, South Dakota; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and one brother, Elman of Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM, with a 7 PM prayer service, at the funeral home.
