Gladys Vera Teel was born January 10, 1928 on the family ranch south of Mills, Nebraska to Milbert and Emma (Sieker) Bothwell and she died January 6, 2012 at her home in Gregory, South Dakota at the age of 83 years.

Gladys grew up and attended school in Keya Paha county, later attending Keya Paha County High School. She was united in marriage to Martin Peterson on August 3, 1947 and to this union two daughters were born: Emily and Linda. They were divorced in July of 1969.

Gladys was united in marriage to Russell Teel on January 1, 1999. Russell died on February 17, 2000.

Gladys lived her entire life in Keya Paha county, Nebraska where she ranched. She later purchased a home in Gregory, South Dakota in 2006. Some of her hobbies included the Carlock dances, yard and gardening, traveling, woodworking, hunting (especially coyotes) and doing dishes at the hunting lodge.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Milbert and Emma; her husband, Russell Teel, her step-son, Mark Teel and by her sister, Caroline Carr.

Gladys is survived by her daughters: Emily (Dave) Beck of Mills, NE and Linda (Randy) Stolcpart of Burton, NE; her grandchildren: John (Anita) Beck, Clay Beck, Beau (Jasmine) Beck, Rex Stolcpart and Cara (Paul) Kroeker; her 11 great-grandchildren: Michaella, Jonah, Noah and JJ Beck, Carter and Wyatt Beck, Cody, Megan and Allison Kroeker, and Jared and Mercedes Stolcpart. She is also survived by Russell Teel's family; a cousin, JoAnn Scripture, Clayton Ritterbush, her good friend Lenora Cook; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the Mills Community Church, the Sandhills Cancer Fund or the Gregory Senior Meals.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Mills Community Church in Mills, NE. Burial will be in the Olivebranch Cemetery, Mills. There will be a prayer service on Monday at 7:00 PM at the Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Church.
