Gerald Rames Charging Hawk was born July 12, 1946 at Burke, South Dakota to Bernard and Sylvia (Rainwater) Charging Hawk and he died July 4, 2023 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska at the age of 76 years.

Gerald grew up around the Bonesteel/St. Charles area.  He attended and graduated Bonesteel-Fairfax High School.  Gerald was very athletic and was known for being an amazing basketball player.  He then met Wanda LaPointe.  They got married and together had 5 sons; Myron, Todd, Jerald,  Jr. and Donovan.

Gerald lived most of his life in Sioux Falls, SD with his niece Jerri and her husband Bryan Wright and their kids Rita, Rachele, Rhonda, Bryan Jr., Brandon and Brady.  He then moved to Norfolk, NE.  Gerald enjoyed working and worked construction the majority of his life.  He also loved taking care of his grandchildren. Gerald later moved to Spencer, NE in 2022 where he spent the remaining days of his life.

Gerald is survived by his sons; Todd, Larry, Jerald Jr., and Donovan Charging Hawk.  His widowed nephew Bryan Wright, His grandchildren; Chantal, Kierstin, Tawny Charging Hawk, Ingrid, Isiah, Michael, McKenzie Charging Hawk, Rachele, Rhonda, Bryan Jr., Brandon and Brady Wright and many great-grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Bernard & Sylvia.  His son Myron Charging Hawk, niece Jerri Wright, granddaughter Rita Wright and his great-grandson Karter Rames Cournoyer.

Gerald will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

Memorial services wil be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the City Hall in Bonesteel, SD.  Burial will be in the Ponca Creek UCC Cemtery, near St. Charles, SD.
