Gary Bartling Sr., a devoted father, grandfather, and craftsman, passed away on August 21, 2025. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his hardworking hands, and the many ways he created and shared with those around him.

Gary had a passion for hunting, fishing, and riding his side-by-side. He also found great joy in carving antlers and canes, often creating meaningful keepsakes for family and friends. He enjoyed working with his hands and could always be found building, fixing, or crafting something special.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Bartling, his sister Maryanne Hammil, and his parents, Herman and Marie Bartling.

Gary is survived by his children: Gary Bartling, Daniel Bartling, and Amanda Bartling. He was a proud grandfather to Jack Bartling, Audrey Bartling, Alison Bartling, Cooper Bartling, Bo Bartling, Ty Bartling, and Sean Bartling. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Effland (Bruce) and his brother David Bartling (Helen) as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Burke, South Dakota.

Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
