Obituary

Gale Robert Inglett passed away in the hospital on December 8, 2019 with family members at his side. Gale was born December 4, 1940 in Burke, South Dakota to Noble and Viola (Smith) Inglett. He was the sixth child of seven children.
Gale attended grades 1-8 at a one-room schoolhouse near his parent's ranch. He attended Burke High School and graduated in 1958. In 1960, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Texas, Grand Forks, ND and Wiesbaden, Germany. The Berlin Wall was erected when he was stationed in Germany.
In 1961, he was united in marriage to Connie Hoffman, and they had two sons, Richard and Michael. After completing his military service, he attended college at Springfield, SD earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Secondary Education. He taught high school and coached in Delmont, SD for one year and then moved to Tekamah, NE to attend graduate school and obtained his MS degree in Business and Vocational Education. After completing his MS degree at University of Omaha, NE they moved to Worthington, MN. While in Worthington Gale taught at the High School and the Community College. In May of 1982, his wife Connie, died.
In August of 1983, he was united in marriage to Janette (McInnes) Voss. Gale continued to teach, prepare income taxes, and during the summers he worked in building construction. In 1986, they moved to Roseville, CA. After moving to Roseville, Gale was the Dean of Instruction and taught at two business colleges. He retired from teaching at Heald College in 2006. After retirement he continued to work part-time. He worked for a tax preparing franchise for several years and for the Small Business Administration disaster services in Houston, TX after Hurricane Ike in 2008 and in Omaha, NE during the Missouri River flooding in 2011.
Gale enjoyed sports both as a participant and as a spectator. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. His love for children was an inspiration for his desire to teach and specially to help his students and friends with many life and career decisions. He was known and appreciated for his quick wit and sense of humor by his students and friends.
He was an active member of the Lutheran Church and has served as treasurer, council member and served on many committees in the various places where he has lived. He was a valuable, knowledgeable, and hard-working asset to the Property Committee at his current church, Lutheran Church of the Ascension.
Gale was preceded in death by his wife, Connie, his parents, grandparents, and mother and father in-laws; his brothers, Gene, Gary, and Neal; his sister Joan (Bartling); and his brother in-laws, Gale and Gary Hoffman. He is survived by his wife, Jan; two sons, Richard (Mary) Elk Horn, WI and Michael (Becky) Citrus Heights, CA; two step sons, Andrew (Joyce) Voss, Washington Township, OH and Eric Voss, Sacramento, CA; two grandchildren, Joshua (fiancé Mallory Beirne) Inglett, Denver, CO and Emily Inglett, Winona, MN; two step-grandsons, Aidan and Connor Voss, Washington Township, OH; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Thompson) Verceles, Tempe, AZ and Joey Thompson, Texarkana, AR; two sisters, Delila (David) Howe, Corte Madera, CA and Velma (Neil) Burkinshaw, Gregory, SD; sister-in-law, Cheryl Inglett, Burke, SD; sister-in-law, Norma Inglett, Burke, SD; and numerous brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Lutheran Church of the Ascension or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke.  Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke.
