Evelyn (Schipporeit) Bain was born April 4, 1927 at Omaha, NE; the oldest of two daughters of Walter and Anna (Hoblyn) Schipporeit and passed away December 5, 2016 at Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, SD at the age of 89 years 8 months and 1 day.  Evelyn was baptized into the Lutheran faith in 1927 at the German Valley Church in Brewster, NE.

Evelyn attended rural country school and graduated from Ainsworth High School in Ainsworth, NE in 1944; after which she took and passed her teaching certification test.  She started teaching country school south of Ainsworth taught for 3 years.  She was united in marriage to Lester "Gus" Bain on December 20, 1947 and to this union two children were born:  Don and Bev.  Gus and Evelyn spent their lifetime ranching and farming and as a true farm wife; Evelyn was the "hired man".  Together they enjoyed watching their granddaughters activities and sports; giving them the opportunity of being able to experience farm life and to have horses.  Until her eyesight became poor; Evelyn loved to sit down and embroider or quilt which is a legacy that she has left her family.

Evelyn is survived by her son Don (Deb) of Cortez, CO; daughter Bev (Dave) Engelmeyer of Burke, SD; three granddaughters,  Michelle Engelmeyer (Bill Schenkel), Colette (Matt) Dick, and Tasha (Shaun) Rausch, all of Sioux Falls, SD.  Three great granddaughters; Madison Dick, Brooklyn and Addelyn Rausch and one great grandson, Cooper Dick; and one brother-in-law, Bill Beckerdite of Elizabethtown, KY.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister, Norma Beckerdite.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St John's Lutheran Church in Gregory, SD.  Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke.  There will be a visitation on Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the church.
