Emma Brunz was born 1/04/1916 on a farm south of Burke, SD to Henry and Christina Neuharth. Emma's angel wings came to her on November 29, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, where she had been a resident for several years. Emma died peacefully after a brief illness at the age of 99 years young.
Emma attended Neuharth Country School, a short walk across the road from her house. Emma later attended Hair Styling School in Sioux Falls. Emma met the love of her life, Emil Brunz. They were married January 17, 1941. They farmed south of Burke raising two sons, Jim and Bob (Laurie) all of Sioux Falls. Emma worked in Burke at the local drug store and at the Gambles store. In 1969 after retiring from farming they moved to town in Burke where Emil worked at Brunz/ Hartog Implement and Emma continued to work at Gambles. After retiring they enjoyed traveling to visit grand kids. Emma enjoyed baking her treats for them and the neighborhood kids, especially the Wendell's
across the street.
Emma also spent many hours living her faith with her church friends. In 1998 Emil and Emma moved to Brandon SD to be closer to children and grandchildren, and being able to enjoy them on a regular basis. Emma's greatest joy was to spend time with her loved ones. After Emil died in 2001, Emma later moved to Creekside apartments in Sioux Falls. In 2010 Emma moved to Good Samaritan Village Special Care where she enjoyed all the activities and many people around her. Emma then moved to full nursing care at Good Samaritan Village in May of 2013, where she
made many friends with residents and staff alike.
After a brief illness, Emma peacefully went to meet her Lord and Savior, with family at her side. She leaves behind many friends and a large family. She will be missed by all.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Bob and his wife Laurie, and Jim and his fiancé Barb Herder, all of Sioux Falls, 17 grandchildren, and 51 great grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emil, her two sisters, Molly Kahler and Anna Neuharth, and three brothers, Edward Neuharth, Emil Neuharth, and adolescent Albert Neuharth.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD. Visitation will be Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home.
