Eli Joseph Koenig was born and baptized January 14, 2022 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD to Daniel and Katie Koenig. He weighed 2 pounds 5 ounces and was 13 inches long. Shortly after receiving Baptism, Eli joined his brother Gus in heaven where, together with God, they will paint the skies at sunrise and sunset.

Eli is loved by his parents, Daniel and Katie Koenig; his siblings Mya (7) and Zoe (5); Grandparents, Anthony and Mary Ann Koenig and Rex and Tracy Pfaff; Great Grandmother, Gretchen Hausmann; Aunts, Elizabeth (Troy) Johnson, Martha (Josh) Holstein, Margaret Koenig (Craig Volesky) and Joni (Jason) Laska; Cousins, Deegan, Mazee and Miri Johnson; Owen, Harper and Libby Holstein;  Dusti Jo, Luke and Aspen Laska; and numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 9:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairfax, South Dakota.  Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Fairfax.  There will be a rosary on Thursday at 7:00 PM at the church.
