Edwin Frasch was born September 16, 1920 at the family farm near Fairfax, South Dakota to John and Mary (Herrmann) Frasch and he died August 13, 2008 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 27 days. Ed was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax. On July 9, 1944 he married Ida Bentz and to this union four children were born. They lived on various farmsteads in the Fairfax area until moving south of Burke in the spring of 1966. They retired from farming in the spring of 1987 and moved into the town of Burke. Since the spring of 2001 they have made their home at TLC Assisted Living Center in Burke. Ed served on the Fairfax School Board and held various church officer positions. He was presently a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Jamison, Nebraska. Ed enjoyed baseball (both as a player and as an umpire), fishing, hunting, watching the Chicago Cubs on TV, reading and playing cards. He enjoyed visits from family and friends and was quite current on world affairs. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. Ed is survived by his wife, Ida; one son, Jerome and wife Veronica of Gregory, SD; three daughters: Mary Jean Goodrich and husband Denny of Mankato, MN; Linda Roggow and husband Raymond of Elk Point, SD; and Susan Teel and husband Paul of Herrick, SD; one brother, Rudy and friend Dorothy of Platte, SD; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives, friends and his extended family at TLC. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jamison, Nebraska. Burail will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Fairfax, SD. There will be a prayer service on Saturday at 4:30 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD.
