Edward W. Dobesh was born February 28, 1927 at Gregory, South Dakota to Rudolph and Anna (Lubbers) Dobesh. He died June 6, 2012 at his farm near Lucas, South Dakota at the age of 85 years.

Ed was raised on the family farm and attended rural school near Lucas. He served in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Shirley Walden on December 31, 1946 in Burke and together they raised four sons.

Ed enjoyed farming, flying his airplane and spending time with his family and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; his brother, Leo, his sister, Bertha and his granddaughter, Katie (Dobesh) Joyce.

Ed is survived by his four sons: Ronald and wife Susan Dobesh of Brookings, SD; Robert and wife Marie Dobesh of Stanley, NC; Rudolph Dobesh of Sioux Falls, SD; and Richard and wife Vickie Dobesh of Burke, SD; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Delores Tagtow of Minnesota; his sister-in-law, Ruth Benter of Burke, SD and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be in the Lucas Cemetery, Lucas. There will be a visitation on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with the family present from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
