Obituary

Dennis Dean (Butch) Lubbers was born September 18, 1939 in Burke, South Dakota in the Burke Hospital, he was the only one of six children born in the Hospital. Dennis attended a one room country school four miles east of Burke. He graduated from Burke High School in 1958.
Dennis married Myrtle Odenbach May 25, 1963. He was a jack of all trades, restoring cars, houses and his passion airplanes. He served on the Burke Volunteer Fire Department for several years.
Dennis enlisted in the Army right out of high school serving two years state side. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Burke, SD where he worked for various company in the area, he and Myrtle started Burke Installation.
Dennis went back to school when he was in his mid-40's for airplane machanics. He enjoyed working at BAR Born Again Restoration in Owatonna MN. Where he worked building the Sikorsky S-38B amphibian replica for SC Johnson. The airplane was recreated for an adventurous trip from Racing, WI to Fort Aleza, Brazil to study the carnauba palm wax
He loved attending air shows in Oshkosh WI. Some of his actives were racing go-carts, snowmobiling in the Black Hills, canoeing down the Niobrara river, camping and fishing at the river with family and friends. He enjoyed telling stories, a dirty joke with the Nelson's boys and building lawnmowers that go 50 miles per hour.
Dennis leaves behind his wife Myrtle Ann (Odenbach) and his two children: Chad and wife Kayla; his daughter Kim and husband Mark Miller and six grand kids: Jennie, Hannah, Gracie, Wyatt, Jack, Sam; his brothers-in-law: Lee and wife Sandra Odenbach and Len Odenbach; his brother Bob & Elsie, his sisters, Theresa and Virginia, and his sister in-law Jennie.
Dennis passed away July 3, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 79 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry & Emma (Krussel) Lubbers, mother and father in- law Ed & Elva (Audiss) Odenbach, brother William, Ed, brothers in-law Louis Brozik & Darla Ellis, infant sister Patricia, and sister-in-law Jeanie Odenbach.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke.
