Obituary

Dennis Shirling Delaney was born March 22, 1931 at Fairfax, South Dakota to Mark and Esther (Bollingner) Delaney and he died April 29, 2008 at the Wagner Community Hospital in Wagner, South Dakota at the age of 77 years.

Dennis was born and raised in Fairfax, South Dakota. He graduated from high school and in 1951 he was drafted into the Army. He served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

Coming back home, he had a love for the road, so he started his own construction company. He was united in marriage to Maxine Shipman on September 15, 1954. During that time, they traveled around on road construction until their daughter Jackie was about to start school. They then returned to Bonesteel and settled down.

When he wasnt hauling gravel or farming, Dennis hauled for MCT during the winter. He loved to go hunting and fishing, and towards the end of his years, always wanted to do those hobbies more, but never found time.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Esther.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Maxine of Bonesteel, SD; his daughters: Jackie Boyle of Draper, SD and Gail Delaney of Bonesteel, SD; his grandsons: Jarreyd Delaney and Matthew Boyle; his granddaughters: Mayghan Delaney and Kathleen Boyle; and his brother, Ivan of Fairfax, SD.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Fairfax. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
