Dennis L. Camin was born on July 24, 1936, a very hot day, in the family farmhouse southwest of Naper, NE on the Keya Paha River, to John and Emma (Bettcher) Camin. He passed away December 15, 2006 at the Butte Healthcare Center at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 21 days.
Dennis was baptized August 16, 1936 and confirmed March 18, 1951 at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Naper, NE. He attended district 53 through Grade 8 and graduated from Naper High School in 1954. Dennis married Phyllis Jones, September 15, 1972 in Gregory, SD. To this union, there were two children: Michelle and Wade.
Dennis served as an active member of the US Marine Corps from 1956 through 1958 and reserve until 1962 as a jet airplane mechanic. He worked as a heavy construction equipment operator in South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming. He returned to Naper in 1970, purchased a gravel truck and pay loader, and hauled gravel for local people, township and county until his retirement in 1994 when he sold the business to Tim Whitley,
Dennis served as a member of the Naper and Spencer-Naper School Boards and Naper Village Board. He enjoyed nice, fast cars and 4-wheeling with the brotherhood on the Niobrara River, Naper rural areas and the Black Hills. He spent time working at the family farm which he and Phyllis purchased in 1974, continuing the Camin ownership since 1899Camin 106-year ranch. He delighted in visiting with the hunters and fishermen at the old house Cabin. Dennis and Phyllis enjoyed traveling and going for short drives. He was a loving and caring family man and a great friend to many.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Michelle (Richard) Janssen and son Wade (Amy) Camin both of DeSmet, SD; granddaughter Jarica Camin; his sisters Amanda Schochenmaier of Bonesteel, SD; Edna (Aylin) Revilak of San Leandro, CA; Ruth Compton of San Martin, CA; Pauline (Marvin) Stoltenberg of Spanaway, WA; his brothers, Alfred (Doris) of Butte, NE and Howard (Beverly) of Calistoga, CA; brother-in-law, Bill Correa of Reno, NV and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dennis was proceeded in death by his parents John and Emma Camin; sister, Delma Correa of Carson City, NV; brothers-in-law, Hank Schochenmaier, Harry Aylin, Keith Compton and Steve Revilak.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at 10:30 AM at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Naper. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Naper. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Monday at the Church. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to both services at the Church.
