Delbert Melvin Fuhrer was born March 20, 1928 on a farm southwest of Butte, Nebraska to John and Margaret (Bruns) Fuhrer and he died February 26, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 6 days.
Delbert grew up in the Butte area and graduated from Butte High School. Following graduation, he made his home between California and Nebraska. On March 31, 1951 he was united in marriage to Darlene Rockford. They were blessed with two children: John and Linda. Delbert worked as an electrician for many years while in California. They continued living in California until 1975 when they moved to Butte and purchased the Honke Hardware Store. Together they ran the store until failing health forced them to retire in 1979.
Delbert was an electrician all of his life, and enjoyed his trade. He also had a love for the outdoors. He could often be found hunting or spending time at one of his favorite fishing holes.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene; and by his brother, John.
Delbert is survived by his son, John and friend Millie of Pasco, WA; his daughter, Linda and husband Bill Schultz of Naper, NE; his grandchildren: Christa, Erin, Sandra, Victoria and husband Jeremy Griebel and Andrew and fianc Abby; and by his great-grandchildren: Jesse, Anthony and Gracie; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Community Bible Church in Butte, NE. Burial will be in the Butte Cemetery, Butte. Visitation will be prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
