IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Debra
Cahoy
March 16, 1957 – December 14, 2016
Debra Jean Cahoy was born March 16, 1957, to Robert and Yvonne (Reber) Cahoy in Burke, South Dakota. She died December 14, 2016, at Avera Gregory Hospital, at the age of 59 years, after a tough battle with cancer.
Deb grew up on a farm south of St. Charles along with her brothers, David and Steve. She attended school in Bonesteel. After graduation she attended South Dakota State University in Brookings. In 1977 Deb began her career with Community Action in Lake Andes. She dedicated 39 years of service to the agency. Her impact on the communities she served will be fondly remembered.
Deb enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing on the Missouri River. She was the family grill master and queen of the mower. Another interest of Deb's was sports. She started playing softball in school and continued to play many years of her life. She coached baseball and softball teams in the area. When Deb wasn't outdoors she enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and the Green Bay Packers.
But more than anything Deb cherished the time she spent with her family. Their needs always came before her own. She loved to spoil her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed road trips and fun times with her lifelong best friend, Donna Schmitz.
Deb is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Yvonne Cahoy, and her brother David. Deb is survived by her brother Steve and wife, Kathy, and their children: Pamela and husband, Cody Spann, Paul Cahoy and wife, Kelly, Daniel Cahoy and wife, Trisha, Beverly Cahoy, and David Cahoy, and wife Nevada, and 7 great-nieces and great-nephews: Christina, Sarah, Rebecca, Brielle, Bridget, Eli, and Sevride. Her aunt Karen Juracek and her four cousins, Cheryl, Clayton and Cody Juracek and Candice Pibal.
