Dean Brian Chasing Hawk was born April 10, 1976 at Winner, South Dakota to Clifford and Velma (Roubideaux) Chasing Hawk and died November 13, 2023 at the Honor House Hospital - Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of 47 years.
Dean was a very proud father of Arianna Chasing Hawk and Dean "Yamni" Chasing Hawk III, his pride and joy. He was the son of Velma, whom he did everything for. Brother of Brenda (Byron) Andrews, Russ (Loretta) Roubideaux, Todd (Sandra) Chasing Hawk and Bev Chasing Hawk.
Dean grew up in Bonesteel and graduated in 1994 from Bonesteel High School. During school he played football and basketball. He also played on the family softball team, The Mad Dogs, with brothers Cliff, Glen, Todd and nephews and fellow team members. He enjoyed following the Mad Dog ball team and powwows. His favorite words, for his favorite football team the San Francisco 49er's, "Who's House".
Dean worked at the Fort Randall Casino and most recently as the CHR for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe until his health failed him. He dealt with kidney dialysis for the last 5 years. Dean had a loving and caring heart for anyone and opened his home to those in need. He would help and lend his last dollar and always had pop and snacks for the kids that showed up at his house.
Dean is survived by many nieces and nephews: Brandon, Barron, Byron, Jr. and family, Brandi and family, Payton, Shandie and Jayden Chasing Hawk, Jade and Jonah Chasing Hawk, Caden, Xavier and Wade Jr Andrews, Tino, Jai, Wanda, Alexis and family, Spencer family whom he enjoyed talking with and teasing. His aunts and uncles: Becky Sitting Bear, Pauline and Ernie Pourier, Veronica Valandra, Steve, Melvin and Richard, Jr Chasing Hawk.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Sr, brothers Cliff, Jr and Glen; grandparents Charles and Virginia Roubideaux and Gertrude and Richard Chasing Hawk Sr., uncles Tim, Keith and Lester Roubideaux, Norman Chasing Hawk Sr, Joyce Roubideaux Sandra Medicine Eagle, Ardith Long Crow and Clara Roubideaux.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bonesteel City Hall in Bonesteel. Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, St, Charles, SD. There will be visitation and wake service on Sunday at the Bonesteel City Hall.
