Obituary

Dallas Matthew Bernett passed away in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 25 years old.

Dallas is survived by his parents Angella Bernett of Herrick, SD and Jef Hern of Zanesville, OH; his twin sister Tesslla Bernett of Williston, ND; sister Tiffanie Bernett (18) of South Lake Tahoe, CA; sister Damayia Bernett (10) of Williston, ND; and sister Kimberly Heatley (27) of Calgary, Canada; his grandparents Cheryl and Peter Bernett of Las Vegas, NV; his grandmother Brenda Heizman and step-grandfather Rich Heizman of Zanesville, OH. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Jerry Hern.

Dallas was born on May 10th, 1991 in Orange, California to Angella Bernett and Jef Hern. Dallas graduated from Hot Springs High School in Hot Springs, SD in 2009. In high school, Dallas played football and wrestling, and worked a few part time jobs throughout high school. Dallas also attended high school in Mt. Vernon, Custer, and Hot Springs, SD.

After graduating high school, Dallas moved to Yankton, SD to be closer to his mother and younger sisters. His mother moved the family out to Burke, SD and eventually Herrick, SD where Dallas always kept his home base. Dallas moved to Cocoa Beach, FL for a period of time to be closer to his twin sister. While in Florida, he worked as an assistant to the sous-chef in an Italian restaurant and was proud of all the Italian cooking techniques he had learned. Dallas also quickly developed his hobby surfing. Dallas also lived a few months in Zanesville, OH where he became closer to his father's family, and Oregon and Las Vegas where he became closer to his mother's family.

Among other hobbies he enjoyed including long-boarding, gaming, working out, and poker, Dallas was an extremely skilled self-taught musician and his most-treasured possession was his acoustic guitar, which he tried to make sure he had everywhere he went. He really enjoyed playing both modern and classic rock ballads.

Dallas was an amazing son to his mother, brother to his sisters, and friend to all. He cared so deeply about those he loved. He had a quirky, but great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He will be so greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at the VFW in Burke, SD at 5pm on Sunday, September 11th, 2016.

A funeral is scheduled for Monday, September 12th, 2016 at 11 am in Herrick, SD at the Herrick Cemetery. Pastor Russ Grim will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dallas's life. Condolences can be sent to 523 7th St Herrick, SD 57523.

The family would like to thank everybody who has been so supportive in this time of grief.
