Dale Francis Goodman was born November 19, 1938 to Francis and Edna (Zeiner) Goodman.  Dale grew up on the family farm south of Herrick, South Dakota.  He attended the Goodman country school through the eighth grade and attended one year in Naper.

Dale worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the Army in 1957, serving until 1960.  He then worked on a road construction crew.  During this time he met the love of his life, Melvina Mulhair.  They were married September 9, 1962 and later moved back to the family farm where he spent the rest of his life.  To this union five children were born.

Dale enjoyed watching westerns, family gatherings and playing cards.  Dale sadly passed away on January 30, 2024 at his home.

Those left to cherish his memory: his wife, Melvina; Children: Brenda (Eugene) Holmberg of Bristow, NE; Linda (Ralph) Roth of Butte, NE; and Dale Goodman of Winner, SD; grandchildren: Chrystal (Daniel) Bennett, Robin (Nick) Nielsen, Stephanie (Ryan) Clocker, Matthew (Guadalupe) Holmberg, Mike Roth, Melinda (Jordan) Anderson, Mick (Tessa) Roth, Mark (Sara) Roth, Melissa (Mark) Stoffel, Trisha (Matt) Goodman; 22 great-grandchildren; sister Doris Moses, brother Vernon (Linda) Goodman, and sister-in-law Sally Ehnes.

Dale was preceded in death by parents, sons Ronnie and Daniel, parent-in-laws William and Mabel Mulhair, brother Willis Goodman and  brothers-in-law David Moses and Richard Mulhair.

Funeral services for Dale Goodman, age 85, of Herrick, South Dakota will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the United Methodist Church in Burke.  Burial will be in the Herrick Cemetery, Herrick.  Visitation will be Monday from 5pm until 7 pm, with a 7pm prayer service, at the church.
