Obituary

Dale Eugene Baker was born March 3, 1929 at Fairfax, South Dakota to William and Grace (McGeorge) Baker and he died December 9, 2021 at Pasco, Washington at the age of 92 years.

Dale grew up on Scalp Creek, attending country school and late graduating from High School.  He entered the United States Army in 1951, serving as a mechanic during the Korean War.  He received a citation for Action in Battle, and was awarded Frances Highest Award.  Following his time in the service he returned to the Fairfax area, farming and working for BA Clark Trucking.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Clark.  Following his marriage he reenlisted, joining the United States Air Force.  Dale served four years finally settling in the Santa Cruz area.  They returned to Gregory County in mid 1980's, settling in Burke.  Together they traveled extensively with Arlo and Patsy Payne.  They also spent time in Georgia, but remained in Burke until the time of his death.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; one son, Dennis; and his sister-in-law.

Dale in survived by his children: Bernie and wife Susan of Mound City, SD; Danny and wife Tunde of Stockton, CA; Jackie and husband Ken Johnston of Pasco, WA' and William of Pasco, WA; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; his sister Fern of Bentz, OR; and his brothers: Glen and Margaret Baker of Fairfax, SD and Frank and wife Mary of Mitchell, SD.
