Obituary

Daisy Mae Johnson was born September 16, 1906 on the family homestead near Fairfax, South Dakota to LeRoy and Eva (Mitchell) Loper and she died December 4, 2010 at the Rosebud Country Care Center in Gregory, South Dakota at the age of 104 years.
As a young girl, Daisy was in charge of watering her fathers twenty-one horses. She attended Star Valley School through the tenth grade. She was then united in marriage to Eugene Wernke and to this union three children were born: Kenneth, William and Darlene. After her husbands death she was married to Dr. J.O. Cook and later to Roy Johnson.
Daisy served as a Stanley Dealer for twenty-six years. She earned several awards and received her Diamond Pin Award after twenty-five years of service.
After her retirement, she lived in Burke at the Senior Housing. She then moved to Gregory before returning to Burke to live at TLC. She had most recently resided at the Rosebud Country Care Center in Gregory.
Daisy was preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene Wernke, Dr. J.O. Cook and Roy Johnson; her sons: Kenneth and William; her grandson, Steve, as well as four brothers and four sisters.
Daisy is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Clarence) Vosberg; her daughters-in-law: Veva Wernke and Catherine Wernke; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery in Fairfax. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 PM, with a 7 PM prayer service, at the funeral home.
