Cora Lenora Rhoades was born February 12, 1909 at Butte, Nebraska to Fred and Carrie (Scherer) Magstad and she died June 25, 2007 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 98 years.

Cora was baptized in the German Congregational Church and later joined the Burke United Methodist Church. She attended school and graduated from Butte High School. In 1931 she was united in marriage to Jack Rhoades and to this union one daughter was born. Jack and Cora would spend the next 62 years together on the farm just north of Burke. They then moved into an apartment in Burke.

Cora was president of the WSCS for a couple of years and taught Sunday school for 14 years. She served as a member of the Extension Club for 25 years and taught a knitting class for 4 years. She enjoyed bowling and bowled until she was 96 years old.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Milton, Ruben, Archie, Lawrence and Robert; her sister, Mable; and her son-in-law, William Bill Craig.

Cora is survived by her daughter, Betty Craig of Las Cruces, New Mexico; two sisters: Viola Blythe of Lavonia, Michigan and Marie Spence of Hot Springs, South Dakota; three granddaughters: Michele Bos of Louisville, Kentucky; Robin Brean of Cottonwood, Arizona and Roxana Jimenez of Red Bluff, California; one grandson, Michael Craig of Electra, Texas; her great-grandchildren: Sean Brean, Taryn Brean, JT Palmor, Jason Jimenez, Siobh Flanagan and Che Craig; two great-great grandchildren: Aidan Brean and Coralee Craig.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 PM, with a 7 PM prayer service, at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke.
