Obituary

Cheryl Marie Fedde (Drey), age 70, passed away on July 12th in Lake Andes, South Dakota. Cheryl was born on December 23, 1950, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Lyle and Ladora Drey. Cheryl loved camping and spending time with her family in Colorado. Her family later moved to McClean, Nebraska, where she lived for the remaining of her childhood. She was a graduate of Osmond High School (1968). Cheryl went on to attend college in Colorado and later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she worked as a paralegal. Cheryl would often visit Burke, South Dakota, to visit her Uncle Marvin Drey and family. While visiting Burke, Cheryl met James Fedde. James and Cheryl Fedde fell in love and were married on November 28, 1981. Cheryl enjoyed helping James on the farm and came to enjoy living in Burke. Cheryl's true passion was raising her children. Cheryl loved being a mother to her three children, Christopher, Kristy, and Nicholas.

Cheryl was skilled and passionate about many hobbies. Cheryl was known for excellent cooking, crocheting, sewing, and needlework ability. As a cook, Cheryl made the best potato salad and fried chicken. She often had many arts and crafts going, but she took pleasure in projects centered around her children, such as sewing Halloween costumes and Christmas Pageant outfits.  Cheryl even quilted baby blankets for her grandchildren. While living south of Burke, she also maintained a large, abundant garden, which brought her a lot of joy.

While we grieve, we also celebrate the privilege of knowing Cheryl Marie Fedde. Cheryl was a kind person and loved caring for her family. She will be known for her ability to strike up a conversation with a stranger anywhere and as someone who could comfort you in times that you needed it most.

Cheryl is survived by her husband James Fedde, son Christopher Fedde, daughter Kristy Jungemann (Jace), son Nicholas Fedde, two grandchildren; Jaden Fedde and Kellan Jungemann, one sibling; Michael Drey (Lyla), and countless nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lyle and LaDora Drey, sister Barbara Pope, brother Lynn Drey; and her nephew Tony Pope.
