Former Hastings resident Calvin Joseph Ehly, 80, of Sutton, died Friday, November 11, 2006 at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton. Local Services are 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton. Services will also be held at 2: 00 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, S.D. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery at Burke, S.D. Visitation will be from 9a.m. until service time Tuesday. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Hastings.

He was born March 24, 1926 to Joseph and Sarah (Frank) Ehly at Burke, S.D. He grew up on the farm with his parents and brother south of Burke and later to a farm southwest of Burke. He graduated from Burke High School in May of 1944. On January 28, 1952 he was inducted in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Corporal. On January 28, 1954 he was honorably discharged and moved to live with his mother and brother in Hastings. He was employed at Western Auto Store for three years, Kansas Natural Gas Company for three years and with Dutton Lainson Company for twenty-three years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hastings and The American Legion Post # 11 Hastings, NE .

He is survived by numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Edward and sister-in-law Ellen.
