Obituary

Due to the current weather situation, Celebration of Life visitation for Brett “Moose” Oliver, age 53, of Gregory, SD will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Gregory Auditorium in Gregory, South Dakota.

Brett David Oliver was born July 26, 1972 at Ft. Riley, Kansas to Eugene and Carolyn (Reeve) Oliver and he died March 7, 2026 at the Avera Gregory Healthcare Center in Gregory, South Dakota at the age of 53 years.

Brett attended elementary, middle school and high school in Burke, South Dakota. He was involved in football, basketball, track, golf and baseball. He attended college in Kansas on a baseball scholarship. He loved many thigs in life: hunting, fishing, sports, but, most of all, baseball. He coached his children and many others. He refed, umpired and announced Gorilla Live, along with Wade Juracek, they were quite entertaining.

Brett worked various jobs in high school, he worked at the Burke Sale Barn and at Franks Cement Plant. He also spent many hours at the Hillcrest, his families business. He farmed and then later manage the warehouse for Karls TV and also owned the Parkside Motel and Olver Services. Recently he began driving bus for the Gregory School District, which he really enjoyed.

On November 25, 1994 he married his lifelong partner, Tammy Stevicks. To this union seven children were born: Rhett, Rhadd, Ridge, Rhoss, Ravyn, Ranya and Reeve. He loved his family and they were the most important thing in his life. He also had several poets that he loved dearly.

Brett also had a long battle with cancer, which he was strongly fighting, so he could be with his family.

Brett was preceded in death by his children: Rhadd, Ranya and Reeve; his grandparents: Lyle and Edith Oliver and Melvin and Audrey Reeve; grandparent-in-laws: Ray and Ruby Stevicks and Bea Massingale.

Brett in survived by his wife, Tammy; their children: Rhett, Ridge, Rhoss and Ravyn; his parents Gene and Carolyn Oliver; siblings: twin sister Jennifer Keffler and Joshua Oliver; mother and father-in-law Roy and Betty Stevicks; brother and sisters-in-law: Lorie Raschke (John), Glorie Stevicks, Roy Stevicks (Melanie), Ray Stevicks (Mary), Ted Stevicks (Micah), Sandy McPartland (Jesse), Mary Hosford (Charlie), Lee Stevicks (Allyssa), and Anne Biggins (Cameron); his aunt and uncle Lawrence and Kathy Oliver; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
