Brenda Lee Hanson was born September 13, 1960 at Albert Lea, Minnesota to Joseph and Betty (Oquist) Crose. She has two brothers Joe and Greg.
At the age of two months, the family moved to Colorado. Brenda graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in 1978. She was baptized in the Baptist faith and was later confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1983.
Brenda worked at Gates Energy Products in Denver following high school. It was here that she met her future husband, Dennis Hanson. They were married October 27, 1979 at Beth Eden Baptist Church. They made their home in Golden, Colorado. To this union three sons were born: Joshua, Lucas and Jared. She was a wonderful mother to her three sons. After the boys were in school, she went to work for the Jefferson County Courthouse and later Mitchell Elementary School as a cook.
Dennis and Brenda bought the Carlock Dance Hall following Dennis' retirement from the Coors Brewery in 2011. They moved to Carlock were they enjoyed hosting dances. She loved to collect anything to do with Holstein cows. She enjoyed canning pickles, watching TV and photography.
On September 6, 2013 she became ill and was admitted to the Gregory Hospital. She was transferred to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota that same night. She passed away at the hospital on October 3, 2013 from complications of lymphoma cancer and TTP.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Joseph; her maternal grandparents, Nels and Dorothy Oquist; her paternal grandparents: Glen and Belle Crose; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ella and Carl Hanson and her niece, Kassandra Crose.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Dennis of Carlock, SD; sons: Joshua, Lucas and Jared of Golden, CO; her mother, Betty Crose of Gregory, SD; her brothers: Joe (Diane) and Greg Crose of Thornton, CO; brothers-in-law: Lloyd Hanson of Gregory, SD and Don (Charolet) Hanson of Aredale, IA; her sister-in-law, Carol Anderson of Gregory, SD; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Burke, SD. There will be prayer service on Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Colorado.
