Bernard Gideon Beare was born June 27, 1957 in Winner, SD to Gideon Beare and Donna Andrews. He passed away May 30, 2005 at St. Marys Hospital in Pierre, with his sister Bernie by his side, of a heart attack.

Bernie spent most of childhood in Hamill and St. Charles, SD and attended school in St. Charles and Bonesteel, SD. In 1978 Bernie moved to Pierre, SD where he met his future wife. Bernie was united in marriage to Joanne Twiggs on June 27, 1981. To this union one child was born, a daughter Sarah Marie Beare. Joanne had a daughter, Emma Grace Twiggs in which Bernie took as his own.

Bernie loved attending powwows with a special cousin Loren LaPointe and special friend Londell Seaboy. He also enjoyed singing Lakota music and sang with various drum groups around the nation. In Bernies spare time he played softball in which he became friends with Larry Jensen and the Jensen Bombers softball team, in which he was a member of.

At the time of his death he was employed at Tobins Furniture in Pierre, SD.

Bernie leaves to mourn his mother, Donna Andrews of Bonesteel; one brother, Leonard Beare of Bonesteel; two sisters: Bernadette Bernie Stars and her husband Don of Pierre and Juanita Cheryl Beare of Sioux Falls; two daughters: Sarah Beare of Pierre and Emma Twiggs of Big Bend; one granddaughter, Grace Ann Bianas of Pierre; five nephews: Jered, DJ, and Joel Stars of Pierre, Sonny Escalanti of Bonesteel, and Christian Velasco of Sioux Falls; two nieces: Alana and Erin Stars of Pierre; and numerous relatives.

Bernie had 2 foster daughters he took as his own, Carmelita Martin of Rapid City and her children Sadie, Jasmine, Sarah, and Martha McCauley and her child Jayden of Pierre.

Bernie was proceeded in death by his father Gideon Bear, a brother Jeffrey Beare, his maternal grandparents Jesse Sr. and Mercy Andrews, paternal grandparents Reuban and Fannie Beare, and one grandson Loren Bernard Fallis.
