Beatrice Mae Kierstead was born Wednesday, June 24, 1942 at Burke, South Dakota to Emil and Florence (Loudon) Klundt of Herrick, South Dakota. Her twin sister, Barbara, was born Tuesday, June 23, 1942. Beatrice passed away May 30, 2011 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center in Winner, South Dakota at the age of 68 years.

Beatrice attended grade school at St. Charles, South Dakota and graduated from Bonesteel High School in 1961. During her teens she was active in 4H and loved to go to dances. She also enjoyed the Hill Top Drive-In Theater. She then attended college at Northwestern Lutheran Academy at Mobridge, South Dakota. She went to work for a bank in Chamberlain, South Dakota. She then moved to Gregory and later Herrick while working for the bank in Burke.

Beatrice was united in marriage to Roger Owen Kierstead on November 2, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Gregory and to this union three children were born: Barbara Jolleen "Bobbi Jo" on January 13, 1965, Rock Owen on July 23, 1971 and Charles Roger "Chuck" on April 6, 1973.

Beatrice loved her grandchildren, flowers, cooking huge meals, playing cards and visiting family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing, trips to Deadwood, quilting, crafting with pheasant feathers, bowling and playing softball. She loved to run the hunting lodge, feed the hunters and argue politics. Later in life she found a passion for computer games.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Barbara Schnabel.

Beatrice is survived by her children: Bobbi Jo and husband Scott Lungren and their son Jason S of Spearfish, SD; Rock Owen and wife Tonya and their children: Tayia S and Shelby R Kierstead of Wood, SD; and Chuck and children Tory L, Todd C and Trista A Kierstead of Wood, SD. She is also survived by her sister, Lorrayne and husband Ervin Schroeder of Bonesteel, SD; her brother Butch and wife Sandy Klundt of Black Hawk, SD; the father of her children Roger and wife Karen Kierstead of Rapid City, SD and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Wood Community Hall. Burial will be in the Herrick Cemetery, Herrick, SD. Visitation will be prior to the services on Thursday at the hall.
