Barbara Jean Yellow Hawk was born April 7, 1954 to Mercedes Yellow Hawk and raised by Hampton and Mercedes in the St. Charles area.  She attended school in St. Charles and Bonesteel, graduating in 1972.  She attended USD in Vermillion.  Her children are Derek Yellow Hawk, Amber, Erica and April Old lodge.

She later married Thomas Timber.  She worked for Milks Camp Industries, Fort Randall Casino and various jobs in Sioux Falls.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents Mercedes and Hampton; her siblings Ron, Judith and Kevin; Her son Derek and daughter Amber; her grandchildren Faye and Araya; her grandparents Dora and Chris and Collins Yellow Hawk and her nephew Wilson Andrews.

Barb is survived by her daughters: Erica and April Old Lodge; her husband Ivy Timber; her siblings Judy (Neil) Hanson, Byron Sr (Brenda) Andrews and Arlene Andrews; her 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews, her grandma Opal Stars and the Stars family and Grandma Lavera Bullbear as well as many friends.

Funeral services for Barbara Timber, age 71, of St. Charles, SD will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Bonesteel City Hall in Bonesteel, SD.  Burial will be in the Ponca Creek UCC Cemetery, rural St. Charles, SD.  There will be wake services beginning on Friday at 7:00 PM at the hall.
