Arne Carl Sund age 72, passed away suddenly, but peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Irvine, California. He was born July 19, 1946 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Carl and Annie Sund. He served as a Maintenance Engineer in the US Navy from 1964 to 1968, installed on the USS Perkins DD-877. He married Lee Alys Pierce from Burke, South Dakota, on June 14, 1969 in Lawndale, California. He worked as a power plant operator for Southern California Edison for 30 years at the Redondo Beach and Los Alamitos plants. He retired from Edison and continued as a power plant operator for another 15 years for AES at the Morro Bay and again, Los Alamitos plants. For over 45 years Arne was passionate and dedicated to the production of electricity. Arne was an exceptional employee who took ownership, fixed problems and displayed a high work ethic, while always making time for a good laugh. Arne left a lasting and positive impact on many of his coworkers. Arne was a dedicated and caring husband of 49 years, great father to Erik Sund, and loving grandfather to Summer and Wyland. Throughout his life Arne traveled extensively with his family and always carried a map to ensure the best route was taken. Arne will be missed for many reasons, but most of all for his unique humor applied to everyday life. Arne was loved by those close to him and great memories of Arne will live on.

A Graveside service will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Burke at 10:30am on Saturday, January 19 ^th , 2019.
