Obituary

Our beloved father, Amos Hoerger passed away April 10, 2007 in Hampton, Virginia. He was born in Lucas, SD on September 17, 1916 to Charles and Mabel Hoerger. He was the youngest of four children.

He spent his early years growing up on the family farm in Lucas and still considers it his home. He will be laid to rest with his family (grandparents, parents and siblings) in the Butte Nebraska Cemetery not far from his childhood home.

Amos lived in an era of changes from the great depression, World War II (He was an officer in the Air Force), the invention of the Model T Ford, astronauts, television, computers, cell phones and more. He loved to drive a brand new car and see how fast it would go every chance he got. Car dealers loved him.

Being a teacher, principal, and superintendent of schools in South Dakota, Iowa, and Oregon was the perfect profession for him. He loved being around kids and really never grew up himself. Along with his love of kids and cars he also enjoyed boats and travel. At 89 he did a cruise to Alaska with his three children, DeEtta Hiatt, Rozella Thoms, and Jerry Hoerger. He loved everything about it, especially the ship.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Myrna Ford (mother of DeEtta, Rozella, and Jerry) and Evelyn Stockholm (mother of David Hoerger, Marianne Rogers, and Regina Penfold) and his girlfriend, Dorthy Fuller.

All his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren survive him.

He loved life and hated to say good-by. Knowing he will be with his family in Butte gave him peace. We love you and will miss you, Dad.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Butte Cemetery in Butte, Nebraska.
