Alvin Raymond Witt was born on August 25, 1944 in Burke, SD and passed away at the Height Street Skilled Care Center in Bakersfield, CA on September 2, 2019 at the age of 75 and was buried at Belmont Memorial Cemetery, Fresno CA.
Alvin was the oldest child of Raymond & Suzanne (Kershman) Witt's seven children. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Bonesteel, SD. As a child Alvin was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended Bonesteel Public School. His childhood was spent working on the family farm, milking cows, and spending time with the many cousins who came to visit.
After graduating from high school in 1964, Alvin was drafted into the United States Navy and served time in Vietnam. After his military service he settled in Fresno, CA where he met and married Stephanie Hoff in 1967 and had one daughter, Tammy.
Alvin's adult life was spent working at various jobs in the Fresno area including Berven Carpet, his own lawn care business, and lastly Rich's Frozen Foods from where he retired.
In 1989, he married Charlotte Burrough in Las Vegas, NV. The couple lived and enjoyed being in Fresno where Alvin was a member of the Cushmann Scooter Club and enjoyed fishing & boating. Alvin loved to keep in touch with his family and was always the first one to call on their birthdays, holidays or any day he just wanted to visit.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents. Left to mourn him are his wife Charlotte, Fresno CA; daughter Tammy & family, Bakersfield CA; brothers Wayne Witt, Kirkland NM; Jerald Witt, Omaha NE; Marlin Witt, San Diego CA; Elmer (Mary) Witt, North Platte NE; Roger (Roberta) Witt, Bonesteel SD; and one sister Benita (Douglas) Mahoney, Box Elder SD and a host of relatives and friends.
