Aline Pearl Brown, 91, passed away on Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at Good Samaritan Luther Manor, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Aline was born on April 3, 1915, to A. J. and Edna Fink, at the ranch east of Anoka, Nebraska. She attended a country grade school near the ranch and graduated from high school in Spencer, Nebraska, in 1933. Aline received Normal School training and later taught two years at the same country school that she had attended as a child.
In 1936, Aline married Maynard (Andy) Anderson and they had two sons, Don and Carroll. The marriage ended in divorce and in 1947 Aline married Howard Brown in McCool Junction, Nebraska. Aline and Howard had one son, Jim.
Aline and Howard spent the next 30 years in the grocery business. They owned grocery stores in McCool Junction, Nebraska, then in Fullerton, Nebraska, and finally, they owned the Bonesteel Super Saver in Bonesteel, South Dakota, for more than 20 years.
Aline was a very knowledgeable and talented person. As long as she was able, she challenged and mastered crossword puzzles. Aline was an expert seamstress, making many of her own clothes, altering friends clothes and making of quilts, comforters, pillows, etc. Dozens of quilts that she handcrafted for family and friends will endure for generations. Aline was also an excellent cook, her specialties being home baked breads, sweet rolls and buns, canned green beans and dill pickles, and pan fried chicken and gravy. After her retirement, Aline enjoyed the Over Fifty Club and the Calvary Bible Mission Society. Since moving to Bonesteel in 1955, Aline made many good friends that were very important to her. She often remarked how much she liked the wonderful people of Bonesteel and surrounding area. Aline contributed to this world and she will be missed by her friends and her loving family.
Aline was preceded in death by her parents; sister Alice; brothers Russell (twin brother) and Garrel; and husband Howard. Aline is survived by son Don Anderson and wife Bobby and grandson Don Anderson, Jr., all from Lincoln, Nebraska; son Carroll Anderson and wife Jackie from Las Vegas, Nevada; and son Jim Brown and granddaughters Robyn Brown and Kelly Brown, all from Helena, Montana.
Funeral services will be at the Calvary Bible Church in Bonesteel at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006. Burial will be in the Rosebud Cemetery, Bonesteel. Visitation will be at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m.
