Alice A. Hinken was born May 9, 1918 at Belvidere, South Dakota to August and Andrea (Peterson) Cacek. She died peacefully January 16, 2009 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 90 years and is in Heaven with her beloved Lord.
Alice was the beloved wife of Linley Hinken for 64 years. Linley is now residing in the Winner Nursing Home. She was the loving mother of Mary Louise (Harold) Norlander and loving grandmother to Sharon (Dean Smith) Harold R. Norlander III and Laura (Scott) Dyszelski. She is further survived by her 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Alice has one surviving sibling, Elvin (Rachel) Cacek and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Alice was a LPN at the Burke Hospital for many years and was proud of helping bring many young ones into this world. She taught Sunday School at the Burke Baptist Church and enjoyed going to Camp Judson with everyone.
Alice was a past member of the Union Baptist Church in Burke, the Eastern Star, the American Legion and VFW Auxiliarys. She was a proud lady and a proud American who will be truly missed by her family and friends.
A special thanks to Monica and all of the caregivers at the Haisch Haus and all of her friends that supported Alice there, giving her wonderful care and love. Also to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Burke Hospital for their kind and loving care that they bestowed upon her so many times.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 2:30 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
